New Delhi [India], April 23 (ANI): Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Tuesday expressed sadness over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, while raising questions about the effectiveness of the security system in the region.
Speaking to ANI, "Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir says, "This is very sad...Such an incident has never happened inside any tourist spot...Claims were made that everything was fine and under control, but it has become apparent over the past one to two years that attacks are occurring in areas where they did not previously take place, even during the peak of militancy, and these areas were considered safe. This raises a big question mark about the security system. Home minister will have to explain what is happening... we would like a thorough investigation into this."
Mir further demanded an explanation from the Home Minister and called for a comprehensive investigation into the attack.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a briefing meeting at the Palam Airport with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other officials, in view of the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam.

The incident, which targeted tourists in the Pahalgam area of Anantnag district, sparked widespread outrage nationwide. Several political leaders condemned the attack.
