New Delhi: Recent incidents have shown that India needs to be ready for a war-like situation, with home grown weapons and technologies as the bedrock of its preparedness, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday.
Speaking to industry leaders, the minister said that Operational Sindoor is a case study and the use of Indian made weapons during the conflict has bolstered the country's image both regionally and internationally, naming systems like the Brahmos missile, Akash surface to air missiles and the Akashteer Air Defence Control System as examples.
" Operation Sindoor should serve as a case study from which we can learn and chart our future course. This incident has once again shown us that anything can happen at our borders, anywhere, at any time. We need to be ready for a war-like situation, and our preparedness must be based on our own foundation," Singh said at a Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) event.
The minister added that while India gave a firm response and is fully prepared for all eventualities, there is a need for introspection to further go on the path of indigenization and the requirement is to develop technologies locally, and not just assemble or integrate systems.
