For generations, a white gown has been the signature of weddings, tied to ideas of purity and tradition. But in recent years, more brides have been rewriting the rules, embracing colors and styles that better reflect their personalities. Rapper Monaleo did just that at her own wedding, and the internet can’t stop talking about it.
The Houston artist tied the knot with fellow rapper Stunna 4 Vegas on September 19 and gave fans a front-row view of the celebration by livestreaming the event on TikTok. The ceremony, dubbed “Stunna4Leo,” quickly went viral, with millions tuning in. While the décor, a floral wonderland of cascading white and pink blossoms, left people in awe, it was Monaleo’s dress that stole the show.
Designed by Gbemi Okunlola of the U.K.-based brand Alonuko Bridal, the gown featured the label’s signature illusion mesh, gloved sleeves, a plunging strapless neckline and lace overlay — but in a bold pink shade instead of the expected white. “She saw it first and was like, ‘Oh my gosh, it’s really pink,’” Okunlola told USA Today. “As soon as she stepped into it, she was just literally feeling herself in the mirror … falling in love with her first glance of herself in the pink dress.”
The pink princess-style gown was in line with Monaleo’s girly rap persona, and her entrance down a mirrored aisle left her groom visibly emotional. Stunna himself stood out in a pink suit, perfectly complementing the bride’s choice. Fans on TikTok flooded the comments with praise, calling the look “magical,” “fairytale-like,” and “so Monaleo.”
One user on social media wrote, "I did not know her, but my mother and I saw this wedding on social media earlier \& were really admiring the fit of her dress. Mom: "Most people's wedding dresses don't fit well, but she looks perfect from every angle!"
A second user said, "She valid(ates) my sentiment over my wedding dress should never be White thank you." A third user commented, "This dress was definitely made for her. Like it's painted on her."
