Diabetes is a growing serious health problem globally, the risk of which is being seen in people of all ages. Our changing lifestyle, irregular eating habits, and stress have made this disease common. Usually, we assume that diabetes is the same for all people. But do you know that there is not just one type of diabetes, but mainly four types. Type-1, Type-2, gestational diabetes, and diabetes 1.5 Lada.

The two types of diabetes that are most discussed are type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Let us understand what the difference is between these two, and how to identify whether you have type-1 diabetes or type-2 diabetes. And which people are at risk of it?
Diabetes and its risk
Health experts say that diabetes is a metabolic disease in which the body is unable to control the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood in a better way. The pancreas in our body produces a hormone called insulin, which helps in sending blood sugar to the cells of the body. When our body stops producing insulin, we may develop diabetes.
This problem occurs in both type-1 and type-2 diabetes. Then what is the difference between the two? Let's understand this.
Know about type-2 diabetes.
The most discussed type of diabetes is type 2 diabetes. Its cases have been reported the most. It is a lifestyle disease.
In this, the body either does not produce enough insulin or the body's system stops responding to it. This condition is called insulin resistance. It is more commonly seen in people above 40 years of age, but now young people are also getting affected by it. It can be controlled with diet, exercise, and medicines.
Type-1 diabetes
Unlike type-2 diabetes, type-1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. In this, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the beta cells of the pancreas, resulting in a complete stop of insulin production. This means that it becomes mandatory for the patient to take insulin from outside. It is mostly found in children, adolescents, or young people. Many children may have this problem even at birth. It is not possible to prevent it, but it can be controlled.
Patients who have type 1 diabetes need to take insulin injections regularly.
What are the symptoms, and what is the advice of experts?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1.5 million deaths occur every year due to diabetes-related diseases. In India, by 2024, more than 10 crore people will be suffering from diabetes, out of which 90% are victims of type-2. The symptoms of both types of diabetes are the same.
Symptoms of diabetes include frequent urination, excessive thirst, sudden weight loss, fatigue and weakness, poor vision, slow healing of wounds or injuries. If you have been having any of these problems for some time, then get it diagnosed by a doctor immediately.
