Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is once again embroiled in legal trouble. This time, the matter isn't related to a film or a dispute, but rather to a pan masala advertisement. The Kota Consumer Court in Rajasthan has issued a notice to Salman Khan. He is accused of advertising a pan masala brand he promoted, alleging that its advertisements are misleading and misguiding consumers.
What did the petitioner say?
Speaking to ANI, Honey said, "Salman Khan is an idol to millions of people. When he promotes a product, people trust it without thinking. In many countries, big film stars don't even endorse cold drinks, but here, stars advertise harmful products like pan masala. They should not mislead the youth."
What is the whole matter?
According to reports, senior Rajasthan High Court advocate and political leader Inder Mohan Singh Honey has filed a complaint against Salman Khan. They allege that the company falsely advertised its product as a pan masala mixed with cardamom and saffron. According to the complainant, this claim is false because the actual price of saffron is approximately four lakh rupees per kilogram, and how can such an expensive product be found in a five-rupee pouch?
Arguments in Court and Hearing Date
The Kota Consumer Court has taken cognizance of the complaint and issued notices to both Salman Khan and the company concerned. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for November 27, 2025. The petition filed in the court states that such advertisements mislead the youth and send a wrong message to society.
Salman's Statement Yet
There has been no official response from Salman Khan or the pan masala company on this entire controversy. Salman is currently busy shooting for his new film, "Battle of Galwan," directed by Apoorva Lakhia. He is also hosting the weekend TV show "Bigg Boss 19."
Questions Raised on Advertisements
This isn't the first time a major Bollywood star has received a court notice for an advertisement. Previously, stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgan have faced criticism for advertising tobacco or pan masala. Now, Salman Khan's involvement has reignited the debate over whether celebrities should endorse products considered harmful to health.
