Why is Donald Trump suspicious of Vladimir Putin?
US President Donald Trump said on Friday (April 25, 2025) that an agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war is 'close'. A day after saying this, the Republican leader expressed doubts over Putin's desire to end the war. Trump said in a post on the social media platform Truth Social, "There was no reason for Putin to fire missiles at civilian areas, cities and towns over the last few days." While returning to the US after the funeral of Pope Francis, Trump hinted at imposing more sanctions against Russia.
'Will have to deal with it differently'
Donald Trump further wrote, "This makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just fooling me and he has to deal with it differently through 'banking' or 'secondary sanctions'? Too many people are dying!!!"
