Coronation Street Lauren's real dad's identity as DNA confession teases debut

Lauren Bolton learned some big news on on Wednesday night.

The character featured in a DNA bombshell, as her father . Reece and Lauren clashed over their past, with Lauren making it clear to the prisoner she did not want him in her or her son Frankie's life.

But as the pair raked up the past and why Reece was never a good dad to her, there was a discovery. Lauren learned from the man she believed to be her biological dad that they were not actually related.

Reece claimed that someone else was likely Lauren's father and that her mother had told him the identity of the mystery man. Of course he could have been lying to taunt her, and he did say he never did a DNA test.

So there is every chance Reece is actually Lauren's dad, but that's not what he said on Wednesday. He told Lauren: "You know I'm probably not your dad. We never bothered with a DNA test and that."

Lauren had an unexpected reaction to the news leaving him fired up. She was happy about it, while she had no intentions of finding the man Reece claimed to be her true father.

She also wanted no further contact with Reece, declaring she was cutting him out of her life for good amid him remaining in prison. She said: "That'll make my day that!" in response to the father identity jibe, with him adding of the real father that he was a "Shakin' Stevens lookalike" from the fair.

Reece was implying that Lauren's mother was sleeping with multiple people, calling her names before suggesting she cheated with a man they knew from the area. He did not name him and didn't state it as fact, but instead called out Lauren's mum before taunting her over the real identity of her father.

With that Lauren shared she had no real intention of finding the man who might be her true father, claiming she had all the family she needed in Weatherfield. Smirking, she turned to him and said: "Bye Reece. You've got no idea what you've missed out on," before leaving the prison.

But is this a major hint that Lauren's father will soon debut on the show? For her to cut ties with Reece may have simply been closure, and her new chapter on the cobbles after a turbulent year.

But might it have been the start of a new part of her life, involving her mystery new dad? For the soap to bring Reece back so randomly just for him to reveal he wasn't Lauren's dad certainly teases there's more to it.

For him to identity him too, perhaps we will end up meeting this character and he will join the show to connect with Lauren. Might it also be someone we already know, a past or current character?
