The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the revised schedule of the IPL 2025 playoffs. According to this, the title match of this season will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad instead of Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Due to the tension between India and Pakistan, the current season of IPL was postponed for a week, which started again from May 17.
Qualifier-1 and Eliminator will be played in Chandigarh.
BCCI had announced the revised schedule for the remaining matches, but did not reveal the venues of the final and playoffs. It was believed that Kolkata could snatch the hosting of the final, and it was officially confirmed on Tuesday. According to the revised schedule of BCCI, PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host Qualifier-1 on May 29 and Eliminator on May 30.
What was the reason for the change?
At the same time, the world's largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, will host Qualifier-2 on June 1 and the final match on June 3. According to the old schedule, Hyderabad and Kolkata were to host the playoff match. IPL said in its statement that the IPL Governing Council has changed the venue of the playoff and final due to weather and other reasons.
Three teams have qualified.
The IPL 2025 season has now reached its final stage, and so far, Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have confirmed their place in the playoffs, and the battle for the fourth place is still on between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. The journey of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals has come to an end in the group stage itself.
The venue of the RCB-Sunrisers match has changed.
The IPL Governing Council has also changed the venue of the match to be played between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Bangalore. The 65th match of IPL 2025 between RCB and Hyderabad was to be played in Bangalore, but now it has been decided to hold it at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. IPL said that, given the bad weather in Bangalore, it has been decided to shift this match to Lucknow.

Earlier, the match to be played between RCB and KKR on May 17 was canceled due to rain, and the toss could not be done in it. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in Bangalore till Thursday, and heavy rain has been predicted. This is the reason why the board has to change the venue for this match at the last moment.
The IPL Governing Council has also added one hour for the playoffs, as well as the remaining matches of the group stage from May 20. This means that if the match is delayed for any reason, then an extra hour will be available to play. So far, three matches in IPL 2025 have had to be canceled due to rain.
