The incident involving Police Inspector Vanraj Manjaria is being widely discussed across the country. Everyone is shocked. Millions of people keep dogs, but they overlook one small fact: dogs are animals, and it's not necessary to go to the hospital only after being bitten. An inspector also acted negligently.
If you own a dog or are an animal lover, you should definitely read this news. In Ahmedabad, ignoring a small matter cost Police Inspector Vanraj Manjharia his life. The news of his passing is worrying and serves as a warning to all of us. Five days ago, Vanraj was scrathced by the claws of his pet German shepherd. While his dog received regular rabies vaccinations, the unfortunate incident occurred.
Inspector Manjharia thought the dog hadn't bitten him, just scratched him with its claws. There was no need to worry. This is where Police Inspector Vanraj's negligence occurred. He contracted rabies. He was admitted to Ahmedabad's renowned KD Hospital for five days but could not be saved. Vanraj was posted at the Ahmedabad City Police Control Room.
Tied to the bed
Rabies is essential to avoid, as contracting it can be fatal. It's even more tragic that Inspector Vanraj was confined to his bed during his final moments, as the rabies virus can take control of a person's mind and drive them insane.
Experts are once again cautioning that even if you get bitten by a dog's claws, you should definitely get a rabies vaccine. If someone is bitten or scratched by a pet dog and the dog's owner claims it has been vaccinated against rabies, you should still get the shot. Even if you get a scratch, consult a doctor immediately.
Thousands of deaths every year
According to a study, rabies-related deaths in India have decreased by 75 percent, but around 6,000 people still die each year. Nine million animal bite cases are reported annually in the country, two-thirds of which are dog bites.
How is rabies spread?
Rabies is caused by a virus in the Lyssavirus family. It is transmitted through a dog bite or scratch and directly attacks the human brain and nerves. Symptoms include fever, anxiety, difficulty swallowing, and hallucinations.
