An important meeting took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping ahead of the SCO summit in Tianjin. This meeting is taking place on PM Modi's first visit to China in 7 years, the aim of which is to improve relations between the two countries. PM Modi Meets Xi Jinping in China SCO Summit: Today's biggest news is coming from Tianjin city of China. An important meeting took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Both the big leaders met warmly. This meeting lasted for about 40 minutes at Yingbin Hotel in Tianjin.

Big meeting before SCO conference

Prime Minister Modi has arrived in China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held from 31 August to 1 September. This bilateral meeting of the two leaders took place just before this big conference.

During his bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "We had very fruitful discussions in Kazan last year, which gave a positive direction to our relations. After disengagement (withdrawal of troops) on the border, an atmosphere of peace and stability has been created."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, "An agreement has been reached between our special representatives regarding border management. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has resumed. Direct flights between the two countries are also being resumed. The interests of 2.8 billion people of both countries are linked to our cooperation. This will also pave the way for the welfare of the entire humanity. We are committed to taking our relations forward on the basis of mutual trust, respect and sensitivity."

This is the second meeting between Modi and Jinping in the last 10 months. Earlier, both leaders had met at the BRICS 2024 conference held in Russia.
  • Changing global equation: The importance of this meeting has also increased because recently there has been some sourness in the relations between India and America. US President Donald Trump has imposed a huge tariff of 50% on India for buying oil from Russia. In such a situation, when relations with a big power are tense, it becomes necessary to strengthen relations with neighbors like China and Russia.
