Alan Carr broke down in tears as he was crowned the winner of The Celebrity Traitors. The comedian, 49, triumphed over fellow traitor Cat Burns and faithfuls Nick Mohammed, Joe Marler, and David Olusoga in Thursday's gripping grand finale. In a final bid to claim victory, the traitors tried to outsmart their trusting faithfuls and secure up to £100,000 for their chosen charity. The episode featured the group tackling a challenge to boost the prize pot, followed by a dramatic banishment.
Cat found herself banished at the final roundtable, but a key twist meant she did not reveal her true identity to the final four. At the final showdown, all four celebrities chosen to banish again, believing a traitor was still amongst them. Suspicion ran high as Alan and Joe voted for each other, while David and Nick also turned on Joe, leading to his banishment. Believing they had finally rooted out the last traitor, the three remaining celebrities decided to end the game, unwittingly handing victory to Alan, who had successfully deceived them all.
But when Alan confirmed he was a traitor, Nick almost dropped to the floor, responding: "Oh f**k!"
Overcome with emotion after deceiving his friends for so long, Alan broke down in tears.
"I'm so sorry," he told Nick and David. "It's been tearing me apart."
The TV star sobbed as his shocked co-stars rushed to comfort him, praising the comedian for playing a brilliant game despite the betrayal.
"You did absolutely brilliant. It's amazing," Nick insisted. "Don't be stupid. Think about the charity, it's amazing!"
Before leaving the castle, David said: "I want to say well done. You played the game brilliantly. It breaks my heart to see how that burden has weighed on you. I couldn't do it so I admire you for doing it so brilliantly."
Alan confirmed the other two traitors were Jonathan and Cat, leaving Nick devastated that he was wrong about Joe.
The Ted Lasso star declared: "Alan Carr. Wow. He played an absolute blinder."
Gaining composure as he spoke to host Claudia Winkleman, the TV personality said: "It's an amazing amount of money."
Alan revealed his chosen charity is Neuroblastoma UK, a children's cancer charity.
He declared: "What a rollercoaster. How did this happen? I was awful at lying. I had no poker face and here I am, the winner."
Reacting to Alan's win, one fan wrote: "Alan was the highlight of this season. It's only right that he won."
A second echoed: "OMFG ALAN JUST WON HOW DID THAT HAPPEN."
Another exclaimed: "ALAN CARR THE PEOPLE'S PRINCESS."
A fourth branded Alan the "best traitor in the history of traitors".
Tonight's result may not have surprised all viewers as it was leaked online 24 hours before the finale aired.
On Wednesday evening (November 5), Canadian streaming service Crave uploaded the full episode, allowing hundreds of fans to watch it ahead of time. While the episode was removed from the platform about an hour and a half later, many viewers had already managed to see it.
