's Prime Minister has branded a missile strike by as an "act of war" and vowed to retaliate. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif accused the "deceitful enemy" of launching cowardly attacks on five locations, while Indian military sources said nine targets were hit. One missile struck a mosque in Bahawalpur, killing a child and injuring two others, according to Pakistani security officials. The Pakistani military also claimed to have downed two Indian fighter jets. Strikes reportedly hit areas in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and eastern Punjab province.
Mr Sharif warned: "," insisting the Pakistani people and military would not let India's "nefarious objectives" succeed. India's Defence Ministry said it had targeted nine sites used to plan attacks against India. The escalating conflict coincided with Downing Street announcing a £4.8 billion trade deal with India. Sir Keir Starmer hailed the agreement as the start of a "new era" for the UK economy. Asked about the crisis, President Trump said he hoped it would end "very quickly."
