No One Saw Us Leave is truly an edge-of-your-seat watch, but is the Netflix show actually based on real-life events?
Set in 1960s Mexico, young mum Valeria Goldberg (played by Tessa Ia) is stuck in a loveless arranged marriage with Leo Saltzman (Emiliano Zurita), the son of a hugely influential businessman.
When her affair with Leo's brother-in-law Carlos (Gustavo Bassni) is discovered though, the powerful Saltzman family turns against her and do everything to destroy her reputation in the close-knit Jewish community.
But Leo takes the situation a step too far after listening to his parents who advice him to take his and Valeria's children, Tamara and Isaac, to Europe without her permission or knowledge.
Upon discovering her children are missing, Valeria enlists the help of private investigator Elias (Ari Brickman) to track them down, with her powerful in-laws using their influence to stop her from finding them for more than two years.
Yes, Netflix's Mexican thriller No One Saw Us Leave is based on a true story.
Its contents is based on the 2020 memoir Nadie nos vio partir, written by author Tamara Trottner who was one of the two kidnapped children in the drama.
The book revolves around her experience of being kidnapped by her own father with his affluent Jewish-Mexican family helping to keep them away from their mum in 1968.
Netflix's thriller differs from the memoir though as it is told from Valeria's perspective as she desperately tries to find Tamara and Isaac.
The book's official description reads: "The table is round. Made of mahogany and barely big enough to hold a gray rotary phone.
"I look up; at this age, you have to look up to see anyone.

"My brother and I anxiously listen as our father speaks into the receiver.
"My gaze shifts from one to the other while I struggle to understand what's happening.
"I just turned five. This day will mark the end of my childhood."
The end credits of the Netflix drama shares that neither Tamara or Isaac saw their father again for 20 years after they were reunited with their mum.
Valeria and Carlos also stayed together for the rest of their lives until he died in 1997.
No One Saw Us Leave is available to watch on Netflix.
