Jeremy Clarkson takes aim at Sadiq Khan with blistering eight-words

has taken aim at mayor with a blistering eight-word statement - insisting he won't move back to the capital because of the politician. The former presenter has confessed the city has become "a bit of a mess" after leaving to relocate to the Cotswolds, where he runs Diddly Squat farm and The Farmer's Dog pub.

In an interview with The Times, Clarkson said: "[London is] in a bit of a mess. If you live there I don't think you notice. [...] You go to London and think, oh my God. Notting Hill used to be, ten years ago, a vibrant place full of amazing shops. Now they're just boarded up. It's depressing."

He went on to deliver the blistering eight-word statement that Khan is "not making a very good fist of it".

"Let's be honest, Sadiq Khan is not making a very good fist of it. If you are in a certain sector of society he's probably a good mayor, but if you're not in that sector of society I think he's probably a terrible man. If you're running a chichi shop in Notting Hill, you're in a sector of society that Sadiq Khan doesn't really care about," Jeremy said.

Clarkson said London's West End is also deteriorating, admitting he's too scared to get his phone out walking down the street out of fear it will get stolen. He said: "I think London's a bit doomed but I still love it. It's still got great restaurants and brilliant things to do. Plus, my grandchildren are in it."

Khan has been mayor of London since 2016, after previously serving as Labour MP for Tooting from 2005 until 2016. He recently laid out plans to end rough sleeping in the capital by 2030, setting aside £17million in capital funding from central government to do so.

He intends to refurbish 500 empty homes and open a new Ending Homelessness Hub to provide 24/7 support to those at risk of sleeping rough.
