Shirley Ballas felt the wrath of Strictly Come Dancing fans after awarding La Voix just two points for her Cha Cha Cha. Last weekend, La Voix and professional partner Alja Škorjanec delivered a dramatic routine full of theatrical flair, but their footwork failed to impress the judging panel. Craig Revel Horwood, famed for his sharp critiques, likened the routine to a trip to the dentist, saying: "You go in smiling, then get prodded and drilled and you leave feeling numb."
But it was head judge Shirley who sparked the most controversy as she bluntly declared: "I wouldn't be able to judge that at all." She continued: "I can't say that you need more flexibility because you never got off to a good start from the beginning so I think it would be unfair for me to say you need this and that. You just had one of those days." Speaking to presenter Claudia Winkleman after the performance, La Voix looked deflated as she admitted: "That was terrible."
The duo were devastated as their total score came in at 14, with Shirley giving them a mere two points.
La Voix, real name Chris Dennis, was stunned by Shirley's particularly low score. Speaking to Express.co.uk at the Pride of Britain Awards a few days later, Chris explained, referring to La Voix in the third person, that she hadn't made an appearance because she was still fuming over the mark.
He said: "La Voix's not here sadly. She's still furious about Saturday night with Shirley Ballas giving her a two. She's refusing to show face quite frankly, so I'm here representing her tonight."
Chris later joked: "It's going to legal. We can't talk - she's furious."
After Shirley's harsh critique, she ended on a more positive note: "We love you and you can come back strong from this. And when you stand there you've got a gorgeous pair of pins."
But it was the brutal score of two that sparked fury amongst viewers as one wrote online: "Shirley will be playing the victim again tomorrow for all the abuse. Scoring La Voix a two was a dagger through the soul of someone already having a mare."
Another said: "Amazing how Shirley was kinder to Stefan Dennis than she was to La Voix. She doesn't even try to hide the bias any more. She's the only one making this show toxic and unwatchable - Shirley has to go."
A third echoed: "Vote for La Voix! She was set up with that awful outfit and theme. She and Alja have a lot more to give and are totally entertaining. Not to mention totally underscored by Shirley."
Another weighed in: "The way I gasped seeing Shirley give La Voix a two. Unheard of."You may also like
