The incredible train as big as a 150-floor skyscraper - tickets cost £5K

Stretching an astonishing 1476 feet in length, this newly refurbished luxury train is as long as a 150-storey skyscraper is tall. Originally built in France in 1929, the Al Ándalus train is the longest train running on Spanish tracks and features beautifully restored carriages that once served British royalty in the early 20th century. With 14 cars designed to provide the ultimate in comfort and elegance, it offers an exclusive travel experience through the stunning landscapes of southern Spain.

The train accommodates just 64 passengers and has seven sleeping cars, five of which feature meticulously restored original carriages from 1929. The new itinerary for 2026 celebrates the train's 40th anniversary with a seven-day tour visiting iconic Spanish cities such as Seville, Córdoba, Toledo, and Jerez de la Frontera, along with new destinations that include Madrid, Extremadura, and Castilla-La Mancha.

Al Ándalus wrote: "You will have the privilege of travelling through the South of Spain on board the same series of cars used by the English monarchy on their journeys through France, between Calais and the Côte d'Azur in the 20's.

"Framed on the stage of the romantic Belle Epoque, today this Andalusian train is a benchmark in comfort, elegance, and spaciousness. The perfect combination to enjoy a luxury tour of Andalusia, with exclusive and personalised attention."

Renfe, Spain's national rail operator, now manages Al Ándalus as part of its Luxury Tourist Trains collection.

From the intricate Moorish palaces of the Alhambra in Granada to the vibrant flamenco culture of Seville, Andalusia is a place filled with culture, history, beautiful architecture, sun-soaked landscapes, and colours.

The train journey also stops at the stunning Royal Palace of Aranjuez, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its exquisite gardens and grand architecture.

Tickets for this lavish adventure reflect its exclusivity with the price of a Grand Class room starting at around £5,700 per person based on double occupancy, while Deluxe Suites are priced at approximately £6,840. The price covers all meals served both onboard and at select local restaurants, plus admission to all scheduled excursions.

Passengers also enjoy onboard entertainment, including live music, flamenco performances, bar parties, and a celebratory gala dinner to close the trip.

In addition to the seven sleeping cars with 24-hour room service, there are two restaurants, a bar car, a playroom with a salon and games, a crew car, and a generator car.

The Grand Class rooms measure around 70 square feet and offer two single beds, private bathrooms, and minibars.

Deluxe Suites are even more spacious, featuring large double beds, hydromassage showers, and panoramic windows that offer 360-degree views.
