Detectives have identified a man who tragically died following a stabbing in north-west London on Tuesday as 41-year-old Shazad Khan. Met Police officers attended reports of a confrontation in Monks Park, Wembley, at 6.10pm. Mr Khan, who is believed to have been an ice cream salesman, received treatment from London Ambulance Service paramedics, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Specialist officers are supporting his family. In the early hours of Wednesday, August 20, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody, along with a 31-year-old woman who was detained at the scene on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, north-west London policing commander, said: "Our thoughts are with Shazad's family and friends at this unimaginably hard time.
"This incident will understandably concern the local community, but current intelligence indicates there is no wider threat to the public.
"Detectives are carrying out a thorough and urgent investigation, and residents will notice an increased police presence in the area.
"Anyone with information - particularly dashcam or doorbell footage from the time - is asked to contact us immediately."
Those with information should call the Met via 101 or online, quoting 6174/19AUG. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
