Condé Nast Traveller recently revealed the results of its 20-25 Readers' Choice Awards. The esteemed travel publication asked its readers, who are avid tourists, about various travel-related destinations and facilities around the world, from hotels to resorts to cities to beaches to airports. It published a list of the best airports in the world, as voted for by its readers, as well as a UK-specific list. One unexpected airport came out on top. In fact, it's one that many Brits have never seen the inside of.

London City Airport was named the best airport in the UK by Condé Nast Traveller. The small airport is dwarfed by other airports that serve the UK capital, such as Heathrow with its impressive four terminals.
However, London City Airport is tiny in comparison. Located in East London, it welcomed 3.5 million passengers last year. In comparison, more than 83 million passengers passed through London Heathrow last year.
London City Airport is also far less busy than other London airports such as Gatwick and Stansted, and other airports across the country, including Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Glasgow and Bristol. However, that might be what makes it a better experience for passengers.
Readers were asked to score airports based on a variety of factors, such as ease of travel and convenience. London City was the UK airport that came out on top. It beat out some much larger airports across the country.
Reviewers have agreed that London City Airport makes for a positive travelling experience. One TripAdvisor user called it "quick and efficient", while another said: "City is a small airport - very easy to get through and easy to get to and from central London. It's aimed mainly at business travellers. Gates aren't far to walk to/from."
They were each given a combined score out of 100, with London City getting an impressive 82.6. The top five airports in the UK in 2025, according to this ranking, are:
