Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper and his wife Nicole Tepper have stepped up in a big way again. This time, they’re helping thousands of school kids get ready for the new school year. The Teppers have donated over 38,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students across North and South Carolina. These backpacks are being given out through Classroom Central, a nonprofit that helps students and teachers in need. This is one of the biggest school supply donations the group has ever received, and it’s already bringing a lot of smiles.

On Wednesday, July 31, 2025, Classroom Central announced that the donation from The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation was the largest backpack donation in its history.

The backpacks will go to students in six school districts in the Charlotte region and other parts of the Carolinas. Each one comes with basic school supplies like notebooks, pencils, crayons, and more.

Karen Calder, the Executive Director of Classroom Central, said, “We’re honored to deepen this legacy of support with The David & Nicole Tepper Foundation and Carolina Panthers, two organizations that understand when educators have what they need, students succeed.”

This isn’t the first time the Teppers have helped out schools and kids. The couple has been supporting Classroom Central for over ten years. Their goal is to make sure every student starts school with the tools they need.

Aside from school supplies, the Teppers have donated to several causes in the Carolinas. They donated more than $10 million to food banks all over the region in June 2025 to support hungry families.

Following Hurricane Helene's impact over sections of the Carolinas in 2024, the pair gave $3 million to aid survivors and rebuild.

Always saying he wants to give back to the community, David Tepper bought the Carolina Panthers in 2018 for almost $2 billion. He also acquired Charlotte FC, a Major League Soccer team, in 2019.

In their recent gift, the Teppers stated, "Education is a major cornerstone of our charity and we continue to be dedicated to supporting students and teachers flourish. "

Classroom Central will keep distributing the backpacks in the next several weeks so that students can come back to school in August 2025.
