NEW DELHI: Several drones were observed along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir 's Samba district . The Army said they are being engaged, adding there was no need to be alarmed.
The drone activity along the border came hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first address to the nation following 'Operation Sindoor' and the meeting between the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan .
"A small number of suspected drones have been observed near Samba in Jammu and Kashmir. They are being engaged," Army said, according to .
Looking at the situation, several areas witnessed blackouts in Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, and Jammu.
The military confrontation between India and Pakistan initially erupted in Kashmir valley's northern regions of Kupwara and Baramulla, subsequently extending to the southern areas of Rajouri, Poonch, Akhnoor and the Pargwal sector along the International Border in Jammu district. The conflict impacted five districts situated along the border -- Baramulla, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri and Jammu.
These cross-border exchanges of fire have weakened the ceasefire accord established in February 2021, which had already proven largely unsuccessful owing to Pakistan's repeated breaches along the 740-kilometre Line of Control (LoC).
What was discussed at India-Pakistan DGMO meet
On Monday, the DGMOs convened to discuss their mutual commitment to maintain peace, specifically addressing the agreement to refrain from firing shots or engaging in hostile actions against one another, according to the Indian Army .
The discussions also led to an agreement to explore immediate steps towards reducing military presence along the borders and forward positions, the Army further stated.
"Talks between DGMOs (of India and Pakistan) were held at 5pm, May 12, 2025. Issues related to continuing the commitment that both sides must not fire a single shot or initiate any aggressive and inimical action against each other were discussed," ANI reported citing Indian Army."
It was also agreed that both sides consider immediate measures to ensure troop reduction from the borders and forward areas," it added.
