Madurai: A blast occurred at a firecracker unit in Chokkalingapuram in Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on Saturday. No injuries were reported as all the workers ran out to safety.
Police said the unit, named Gnanavel Fireworks and owned by Kamalakannan, is licensed by Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation..The explosion occurred in a working shed around 3.30pm. Upon receiving information, fire & rescue services personnel rushed in and extinguished the fire. Sivakasi East police registered a case and are conducting investigation.
