New Delhi, May 2, 2025: The Government of India has introduced the E-Shram Card initiative to provide financial security and pension benefits to workers in the unorganised sector. Under this scheme, registered workers are entitled to receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000 after the age of 60. The registration process is fully digital, allowing eligible individuals to apply from the comfort of their home.
What is the E-Shram Card? The E-Shram Card is a government-issued unique digital identity created for workers in India’s vast unorganised sector. The card aims to establish a centralised database of informal workers and extend benefits such as accident insurance, pension schemes, and access to other social welfare programs.
Eligible workers include platform-based service providers such as those working with Ola, Uber, Amazon, Flipkart, and other gig economy platforms.
Who Can Apply?Any Indian unorganised sector worker aged between 16 and 59 years can apply for the E-Shram Card. The scheme targets those not covered under EPFO or ESIC, helping them access government benefits that were earlier limited to the formal workforce.
